PUBLIC ART GROUP PROJECT

commissioned artworks: 3 pieces 400x300 cm each

This was my first experience with public art, even though I create large-scale paintings before.

This project was born from small colored pencil drawings I made during the long general quarantine in the spring of 2020. It is based on personal materials, which are always very important to me. In the process, these sketches transformed into watercolor drawings, then into paintings, and now they’ve expanded to the size of the walls of the Archive.

The starting point was the exhibition “The Other Half of the Avant-Garde 1910-40”, curated by Lea Vergine, whose materials I took from the Archive. By incorporating the catalog and objects from this exhibition into my works, I emphasized the sense of kinship between women artists of the past and present.

Since all the artistic decisions were made in a small format, enlarging them to wall size was a technical task, and it came with a significant emotional load for me.
